The Guy Harvey Fisheries Symposium kicks off Thursday morning at the University of South Florida-St. Pete campus. It’s one of the few marine conferences that brings together scientists, fishermen, public policy-makers and advocates for frank discussions aimed at producing solutions and consensus on complex issues.
The two-day symposium runs Thursday and Friday.
We’ll be tacking Restore Act funding, Gulf red snapper regulations, aquaculture development and many other issues. Plus, hear the latest marine science research from the leading scientists in the field. For more information, go to the Gulf Fisheries Symposium web site.
And, this Saturday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., don’t miss the Save Our Seas Festival on the USF-St. Pete campus adjacent to the University Student Center. There will be more than a dozen marine science and conservation exhibits plus live music. You can also find out why invasive lionfish are a problem, but a delicacy too.
